Mail Ballot

1. Mail ballot

The deadline for applying to vote by mail in the 9/13 Democratic primary is Tuesday 8/23/2022 at 4:00 pm. If you have not applied for a mail ballot by 8/23, then you must vote either early in-person at city hall, or at your polling location on election day.

Mail ballots will be sent to all voters who completed and returned their mail ballot application before the deadline. Once you complete your mail ballot, you can drop it off at city hall in a secure dropbox outside or mail it to the Board of Canvassers at this address:

Providence Board of Canvassers

Providence City Hall

25 Dorrance Street, Room 102

Providence, RI 02903

(401) 680-5000

Mail ballots must be received by 8:00 pm on Primary Election Day, September 13th, so make sure you mail yours a few days earlier, or drop it off before the deadline.

Early In-Person

2. Early in-person voting

The next easiest way to vote early is by casting your vote during the early in-person voting period. From August 24th - September 12th, you can vote at the Joseph A. Doorley Jr. Municipal Building located at this address:

444 Westminster Street

Providence, RI 02903

3. On Election Day

On election day, you can cast your ballot at your assigned polling location. You can find your assigned polling location by entering your address at the link above.

Make sure you bring a valid photo ID to your polling place. You can read the list of valid IDs at the link above. If you do not have a valid ID to vote, you can request one for free by calling (401) 222-2340 or emailing elections@sos.ri.gov.
